I
believe it was predestined that
my path crosses that of “Chinese
Bridge.” This also changed the
path of my life.
To be frank, before I partici-
pated in the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese
Proficiency Competition in 2008, my
plan for life was rather uncertain. I
had no idea what I would do or what
I should plan for the future. However,
my life was changed after the competi-
tion. First, I have gained sincere friends,
and second, my dream of pursuing a

postgraduate program was realized.
e competition gave me clarity for my
unclear life path.
It has been almost three years since
the end of the competition. But I still
keep in touch with those friends I made
during the event. It seems that we have
been friends for a long, long time.
There are no secrets, no gaps and no
distance between us. Wherever we are,
and whoever has problems, everyone is
ready to help. December 23, 2010 is the
day I’ll never forget. at day was my
birthday but something bad happened
to me. When my friends learned of
this, they all called to give me comfort.
I was greatly moved by their kindness.
ough the completion ended in 2008,
our friendship will never come to an
end. Our friendship is a colorful orna-
ment for my life.
Through “Chinese Bridge,” I came
into contact with Hanban and through
Hanban I got the opportunity to pur-
sue postgraduate studies in China.
I had never expected that. I have six
siblings and I am the first to make it
to graduate school. I major in Inter-
national Education at the College for
Chinese Language Studies at Peking
University. My goal is to teach Chinese
to non-Chinese speakers and help them
develop an interest in Chinese language
and China, just like me!
Now I have f inished half of my
postgraduate program. To my surprise,
other classmates turned out to be par-
ticipants in the 2008 “Chinese Bridge”
competition. The classmates are from
Egypt, Russia, the United States,
Spain, South Korea, Japan and the
Philippines. We study together, live to-
gether, and we learn about each other’s
culture and customs. We live a colorful
life, more interesting than before.
This year marks the 10th anniver-
sary of “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Pro-
ficiency Competition. I’d like to extend
my heartfelt best wishes on this an-
niversary. “Chinese Bridge” is a talent
scout; I hope she can find more talents
of Chinese language in the world, help
them improve themselves and make
exchanges with each other.
