rench Association of Chinese Teachers (AFPC) announced that the
first Youth Chinese Test (YCT) will be held in May for primary and
middle school students in France. The test is expected to further
promote the spread of Chinese in France and to have a favorable effect on
Chinese education in the country.
Last year, another 26 secondary schools and high schools in France be-
gan offering Chinese classes, bringing the total number of such schools to
526. Meanwhile, the number of registered Chinese learners also exceeded
50,000. Nearly 1,000 people took the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) last
year - a record high.

ndian secondary educational authorities said they will promote the in-
troduction of Chinese into middle schools beginning next semester. By
request of India’s Foreign Ministry, the primary educational authorities
have also begun studying the introduction of Chinese education.
In India, Chinese education is only available in universities. Higher
employment rates among Chinese majors have greatly boosted student in-
terest in Chinese. The head of the Department of East Asian Studies at the
University of Delhi said the employment rate of Chinese-major graduates
reached 100%, and their salaries are usually higher than students of other
majors.

talk about China. A Swedish scholar said
the Chinese Spring Festival, a “minority
group’s festival” in the West, has become
a fashionable festival in recent years.
