leading developing country, I
think it a great country of culture

中国的社会发展令人惊叹
，
并且令人感叹
的是我认为它仍然是在上升阶段
。

Before I came to China, what I knew about
this country was no more than its huge popula-
tion. However, this trip tells me that China is far
more than a developing country. The Chinese
people are so hospitable. The students I met are
so talented, diligent and promising. The country’s
development is amazing and it is still rising.

My understanding of Chinese culture
and tradition was very limited before I
came to China. Now I’ve realized the true
meaning of “Seeing is Believing.” I hope
I can bring my family to China one day,
telling them how important it is to know
more about China.

Before this trip, I had been imagining a de-
veloped China. But whenever I thought of the
landmarks in China, I failed to link them with
the country. China’s modernization is surprising
and what is even more surprising is that such
a modern country still maintains the historic
buildings which are thousands of years old.

I had imagined that China was an ancient and underdeveloped
country before this trip. I had thought that Chinese students worked
very hard with little rest. Since I came here, I have found China very
traditional but some buildings, streets and traffic systems in many
places are just as modern as Chicago. The Chinese students are diligent
but they also attend extracurricular activities and join clubs.
