To date, 276 Confucius
Classrooms have been es-
tablished in 31 states in the
United States -- the county
with the largest number of
Confucius Classrooms in
the world. There are three
types of Confucius Class-
rooms: those under Confu-
cius Institutes, those set up
in cooperation with state
governments and those set
up in cooperation with the
Asia Society and College
Board.

tween the two organizations
and Hanban.
Great progress has been
made in Chinese education
across the United States. So
far, 75 Confucius Institutes
and 276 Confucius Class-
rooms have been set up, espe-
cially at famous U.S. universi-

universities have launched
Chinese language disciplines
and over 4,000 U.S. elemen-
tary and middle schools also
are now providing Chinese
language courses.

Hanban also held a meeting
on Confucius Classrooms
and a series of seminars on
the projects of Chinese vol-
